As a therapist the ones I pull from most are Eight Keys to Recovery from an Eating Disorder and Life without Ed.

As a parent, Table for Two, Chasing Silhouettes and Sick Enough are insightful reads.

The 40-Day Body Image workbook and Image Restored are excellent work books and Hungry is the honest story of my friend Caroline Cook who overcame an eating disorder.

Someone struggling with an eating disorder carries

Someone struggling with an eating disorder carries a lot of shame, can tend to isolate and incidentally pushes people away. But to have a friend who draws near anyway is a tremendous gift. It tells the one struggling, “You’re not too much. You don’t have to go through this alone. I’m here.”

Let’s help our teens be that kind of friend! It may not be an eating disorder but some other trial or trauma in which someone needs another who pursues💞!

For whatever you are going through and struggling

For whatever you are going through and struggling to trust God in, here is a breath prayer I often default to:

LORD, HELP ME.
HELP ME TRUST YOU.
GIVE ME YOUR PEACE.
AMEN.

Prayer can be just that. Sometimes it’s all the words we have. But even something this simple helps me surrender my control to the God who sees & knows all things.

My prayer today for myself, for my clients, for you—is that He who is our Peace would fill us so completely with his perfect peace that our minds would stay on him and not be taken captive by the fear of the unknown.
